DROWSY DRIVING

According to a study conducted by the Indian Journal of Community Medicine, drowsy driving is a significant factor in road accidents in India. The study found that drowsy driving was the cause of 5.8% of accidents in the country. So, the model includes a sleep detection system that incorporates a wearable device. This system can detect signs of drowsiness or fatigue in drivers and alert them with a continuous alarm to help them regain focus.

DRUNK DRIVING

According to the National Crime Records Bureau(NCRB), there were a total of 19,945 road accidents caused by drunk driving in India in 2019, resulting in 6,591 deaths and 20,765 injuries. So, the system is equipped to detect the presence of alcohol even before the vehicle starts moving. If alcohol is detected, the vehicle will not start. If alcohol is detected while driving, the speed of the vehicle gets controlled.

Authorization

According to the Road Accidents in India report published by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in 2019, "driving without valid license" was responsible for 5,467 road accidents, 2,236 deaths and 5,474 injuries in that year. These accidents constituted 1.5% of the total road accidents that occurred in India in 2019. To prevent unauthorized driving, the system check’s the driver's license and its validity. If the user is unlicensed, the vehicle will not start. In the event of a driver change, a live camera can monitor the driver's face and actions to ensure that only authorized drivers operate the vehicle.

Sign Board Capturing

A report by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in 2019 stated that 9,735 accidents and 3,422 fatalities were caused due to the ignorance of sign boards and traffic signals. To prevent accidents caused by inattentive driving, the system provides audio commands to inform the driver of upcoming signs and other warnings in all environmental conditions. This can help the driver focus on the road and avoid distractions.

Vehicle Health

According to the 2020 Road Accidents in India report by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, failure of vehicle parts was responsible for 2.4% of all road accidents in India, which accounted for 4,502 accidents in total. This resulted in 2,106 deaths and 4,585 injuries. So, by harnessing machine learning, the vehicle’s health is under constant surveillance, allowing for the detection of any abnormalities in its components and the prevention of more serious issues.
